BMY Case Study: How SeasonalVantage Spotted Bristol-Myers Squibb Before the Move

Most traders start paying attention to a stock after it begins moving.

The more interesting question is:

Can we narrow down which stocks may be setting up before the move happens?

Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) recently provided a good example of how I use seasonal data together with the SeasonalVantage Telegram Bot Screener to do exactly that.

BMY Was Already Inside a Bullish Seasonal Window

BMY had an active bullish seasonal window:

Seasonal Period: 7 August to 20 August 2026
Historical Win Rate: 90%
Average Profit: 2.36%
Years Analysed: 10
Sentiment: Bullish

This does not mean BMY must rise simply because it is inside a historically favourable period.

Seasonality tells us where to look.

I still want price behaviour to give me a reason to pay attention.

Then the SeasonalVantage Bot Picked It Up

On the 13 August screen, the SeasonalVantage Telegram Bot surfaced BMY as one of the stocks meeting the bullish screening criteria.

At the time, BMY was trading around $64.97.

Because the stock was already inside an active bullish seasonal window and had now appeared on the screener, I highlighted it to SeasonalVantage Insiders as a stock worth watching.

BMY appearing in the SeasonalVantage bullish screener from the 13 August scan.

This is an important part of how I use SeasonalVantage.

Instead of looking through hundreds of stocks and trying to predict what might move next, the process narrows the market down:

Seasonal window → Screening signal → Price confirmation → Trade consideration

What Happened Next

The blue vertical line on the chart below marks 13 August, when the bot generated the signal.

In the sessions immediately after the signal, BMY began moving higher.

The blue vertical line marks the 13 August SeasonalVantage Bot signal. BMY subsequently broke higher while still within its bullish seasonal window.

By 19 August, the stock had pushed above its recent consolidation and continued higher into the final days of the seasonal window.

The important point is not that BMY went up.

It is when it appeared on the radar.

The screener identified BMY while the stock was still consolidating, rather than after a large breakout had already attracted everyone's attention.

This Is What I Want the Screener to Do

The goal of the SeasonalVantage Bot is not to find today's hottest stocks.

It is designed to help surface stocks and ETFs that:

  • are inside historically favourable seasonal periods

  • meet my additional screening criteria

  • may be approaching a potential price move

  • deserve closer attention before they become obvious

BMY is a good example of that process working as intended.

Seasonal data identified the opportunity window.

The bot helped narrow down the timing.

Price ultimately confirmed the move.

The Takeaway

No screener will produce a winner every time, and seasonality should never be used as a standalone buy signal.

But when you combine historical seasonal tendencies with systematic screening and price confirmation, you can spend less time chasing what has already moved and more time focusing on what may be setting up next.

That is ultimately what SeasonalVantage is built to do:

The data finds the opportunity. The tools help you act on it.
